Jan Youtie is a principal research associate at Georgia Tech's Economic Development Institute and adjunct associate professor in Georgia Tech's School of Public Policy. She specializes in applied research in economic development, manufacturing modernization, and telecommunications policy areas. Dr. Youtie has been appointed to serve as a member of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership Ninth Year Review Panel. Recent publications include Telecommunications Strategy for Economic Development (Greenwood Publications), and "Tracking Customer Progress" and "Coordinating Industrial Modernization Services: Impacts and Insights from the U.S. Manufacturing Extension Partnership" (Lang Rosen Gold Award Winners) in the Journal of Technology Transfer.
内容简介:
Universities have assumed an expanded role in science and technology-based economic development that has become of interest to catch-up regions as well as to leading innovation locales. This lecture examines how the role of the university has evolved from performing conventional research and education functions to serving as an innovation-promoting knowledge hub though the case of Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).
