主讲人:Dr. Lizhi Wang and Dr. Guiping Hu from Iowa State University
时间:2014年7月9日 下午3:00-5:00
地点:主楼六层会议室
主讲人简介:
Lizhi Wang is an associate professor in the department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at Iowa State University. He obtained two bachelor’s degrees in Automation and in Management Science from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2003. He obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2007. His research interests include bilevel optimization and the applications of optimization methods in energy systems, policy analysis, and plant breeding.
Guiping Hu is an assistant professor of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering and Graduate Program for Sustainable Agriculture at Iowa State University (ISU). She is also an affiliated faculty of the Bioeconomy Institute at ISU. Hu got her M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2006 and 2009 respectively. She got her bachelor’s degrees in Automation (2004) and Management Science (2003) from University of Science and Technology of China.  Hu’s research focuses on operations research and mathematical decision making analysis with application of statistical and probabilistic models to bioenergy production systems, supply chain management, and green manufacturing. Her research is being supported by US Department of Energy, Iowa Energy Center, Bioeconomy Institute, Biobased Industry Center and Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture.
内容简介:
讲座1:Driven by Renewable Portfolio Standards and Renewable Fuel Standard, biopower generation and biofuel production will increasingly compete for the same biomass resource over the next two decades. We use a linear programming model to study this competition as well as other interactions between the two policies. Our model describes the U.S. renewable energy portfolio by explicitly accounting for all major renewable energy resources, unique resource availability and policy requirements in all 50 states and Washington D.C., and policy deadlines set by all RPS and RFS2 policies within a 2013-2035 modeling horizon. Our modeling results were used to address five important questions regarding interactions between RPS and RFS2 and the impact on U.S. renewable energy portfolio.
讲座2: Renewable energy industry has attracted increasing attention due to its potential to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and contribute to the national energy independency. Biofuel as the main renewable transportation fuel has been promoted nationally. It is essential to understand the economic feasibility, environmental consequences and the social impacts of the biofuel production systems. In this presentation, the recent studies on biofuel supply chain design, operational planning, and game theory based equilibrium market analysis will be discussed. Related projects will be discussed to facilitate potential collaborations.
