Norio Okada is currently Director of Institute for the Research of Disaster Area Reconstruction, and Professor of Policy Studies, Kwansei Gakuin University, Kobe-Sanda Campus, Japan. He is Professor Emeritus of Kyoto University and also adjunct professor of Kumamoto University, Japan. He is currently Honorary Visiting Professor at Beijing Normal University, China, and Honorary Visiting Professor at Beijing Institute of Technology, He was also adjunct professor at Department of Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada (between 1985-1995). He was Honorary Professor at Dongbei University, Changchun, China, and Honorary Professor at Chongqing Jiaotong University, China. He was awarded the 2012 TD Walter Bean Visiting Professor in Environment fromThe University of Waterloo.
内容简介:
This speech calls for further research and education efforts needed to avert evolving disasters which appear to occur more frequently in decades to come. It addresses the growing demand for integrated disaster risk management, and accordingly stresses the increasing significance of systems thinking approach. New conceptual models are introduced and a challenge towards collaborative modeling suggested.
