主讲人简介:
David Wheeler, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of Business at the University of Plymouth (UK). He is an internationally experienced academic and business person with more than two decades of senior executive level involvement in change management and sustainable business practice, research and teaching. Throughout his career David has been requested to provide support to senior management teams in pursuing strategic change. He has particular expertise in service industries and energy and extractive industries. In the last three years, David has focused much of his advisory work in the fields of energy conservation and renewable energy policy in South West England, Nova Scotia and Alberta. He continues to pursue his interests in the role of the private sector in international development which has been built on major projects undertaken for the World Bank, the UNDP, CIDA, IDRC and DFID. David has published more than 80 articles and book chapters in a wide variety of academic journals, books, parliamentary inquiries and popular journals like the British Medical Journal , the Lancet , Energy Policy, Water Research, the Journal of Portfolio Management , the Journal of Business Ethics , Long Range Planning , and the MIT Sloan Management Review .

The lecture will be hold by Prof. Dr. David Wheeler. David is going to present about the question how does corporate social responsibility and sustainable development relate to the creation of business value. There are some of the paradoxes and dilemmas facing firms in the extractive sector when they to take on a more stakeholder-responsive orientation towards issues of environmental and social responsibility. In this lecture, David will describe the case of Shell/Ogoni and attempts to draw out some of the lessons of that case for more sustainable operations in the developing world. The lecture will cover sustainability as a leadership opportunity for Chinese business and Chinese business graduates, Methods and mindsets for creating sustainable value etc..
