报告内容简介:
Theory development constitutes an indispensable component of academic scholarship that is undertaken to advance knowledge of a phenomenon. Theories not only offer comprehensive and sophisticated conceptual understanding of an observed phenomenon by providing explanations of the definitive mechanisms underlying the phenomenon, but they also guide the empirical process by dictating the sample population from which data is collected and the technique(s) employed in analyzing the collected data. In this sense, theories afford researchers with a myriad of ontological ‘lenses’ for deciphering the world around us and holds a high priority for knowledge accumulation in a given field. A primary objective of the webinar is to deliver an overview of key considerations behind the development of theories in business management with an emphasis on the field of information systems. Participants will gain foundational knowledge of theory development and delve into the considerations that accompany the theorization of socio-economic or socio-technical phenomena.
