关于香港科大商学院招收博士生的通知

The Research Grants Council of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has launched a Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme(HKPFS)* to attract the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Business School invites applications for HKPFS as well as for travel grants to visit HKUST Business School and to gain a first-hand knowledge of our PhD program.

Requirements for Eligibility

• Undergraduate degree to be completed by 2010/11;
• 780 minimum in GRE Quantitative and 600 minimum in GRE Verbal, 55 minimum in GMAT Quantitative and 30 minimum in GMAT Verbal;
• Already submitted an application for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2011/12.
• Among top 3 in class/cohort (there must be at least one letter of recommendation stating that the student is among the best 3 students in his/her class/cohort), and more favorable letters will improve the chance of a successful application.

Awards

Candidates selected for campus visits will be eligible for a travel grant of HK$8,000 or round trip economy air fare (whichever is lower), and campus accommodation for two nights. The visit, which includes attending a department research seminar, meetings with faculty members and a tour of the facilities, will take place in November, 2010. Selected candidates are required to get air fares endorsed by the HKUST Business School prior to purchasing tickets.

The HKPFS provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (approximately US$2,600) and a conference and research related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year for the awardees for a period of three years. Individual departments can extend the award for another year. Applicants not selected for the HKPFS can choose to remain in the regular admission pool and be considered for the Postgraduate Studentship of the HKUST Business School, which is at the rate of HK$13,000 per month for 10 months each year.
