International Economics and Trade (English teaching major)

 

     This major belongs to the major of international economy and trade. In order to better adapt to the development of economic globalization, adapt to the trend of internationalization of talent cultivation, and meet the needs of the society for international talents, the undergraduate major of International Economics and Trade added an international experimental class (English teaching major) in 2008. The School of Management and Economics set up a working group composed of professors of relevant subjects, implemented a number of experimental teaching reforms, and built a teaching team composed of teachers in relevant professional fields and foreign teachers. Specialized courses are taught in English, using the excellent foreign textbooks. After 10 years of experiments and efforts, it has initially become an undergraduate major with international characteristics.

 

     This major focuses on the strategic needs of national "Large Trade Nation" and "The Belt and Road" initiative, and aims to cultivate students who practice core socialist values and have good ideological quality and moral standards. The goal of this major is to guide students to master the basic knowledge, basic theories and methods of economics and trade, to be familiar with the international economics and trade rules, to understand and grasp the operation mechanism and development rules of domestic and foreign economy and trade. Moreover, this program trains students to be able to use a foreign language skillfully, use modern information technology, be proficient in good communication, strain, coordination and innovation and entrepreneurship. Students are expected to become high-quality professionals who can meet the needs of China's modernization construction, serve the national economic security and national defense research, and have a global vision and an international knowledge system. Graduates can be engaged in relevant management, research and consulting work in international organizations, government departments, financial fields, state-owned enterprises, foreign-invested enterprises and other units.

 

     This major selects talented students from freshmen from the entire school and enrolls about 30 students every year. Students are required to attend at least one semester of overseas study and receive credits. According to the requirements of the partner institutions, students generally need IELTS or TOFEL scores to participate in overseas exchange programs.
