【Mingli Lecture 2022, Issue 29】Professor Peng Rui from Beijing University of Technology was invited to give an academic report

On May 21st, [Mingli Lecture Hall 2022 Issue 29] was honored to invite Professor Peng Rui from the School of Economics and Management of Beijing University of Technology to bring an online presentation entitled "A two-dimensional maintenance optimization framework balancing hazard risk and energy consumption rates" academic report. The report was presided over by Professor Zhao Xian, Deputy Dean of the School of Management and Economics, Beijing Institute of Technology. Many teachers and students participated in this academic report.

Prof. Rui Peng shared the maintenance strategy that considers both the failure rate and the energy consumption rate. In real life, many power systems (such as cables, refrigerators, etc.) inevitably face severe energy consumption problems. A fundamental theme of this type of system maintenance strategy is how to balance reducing energy consumption and controlling the risk of failure to reduce losses. Based on the two dimensions of operating age and consumption severity, the study proposes a novel proactive maintenance strategy to guide maintenance and spare parts replacement. The energy consumption process is characterized by a semi-Markov chain. At a certain age of operation, or when energy consumption per unit of time reaches a pre-specified threshold, if the time to plan for age-based replacement exceeds a certain threshold, the system is replaced preventively. On this basis, the research establishes a maintenance optimization model and conducts an in-depth analysis of its analytical structure.

Professor Peng Rui's wonderful report aroused great interest of the teachers and students present, and broadened everyone's academic horizons. After the lecture, the participating teachers and students enthusiastically asked questions, and Professor Peng Rui gave detailed answers. This academic lecture was well received by the teachers and students and ended successfully.
