On October 29, 2020, [Mingli Lecture Hall, 2020 Issue 23] I have the honor to invite Professor Chen Jianqing from the Department of Information Systems, Naveen Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas, USA to bring you the title "Frenemies in Platform Markets: Heterogeneous Profit" "Foci as Drivers of Compatibility Decisions" academic report, the report adopts the form of online live broadcast of Tencent conference. In the report, Professor Chen Jianqing first gave a general introduction to the theories and key points of the current platform economic research field from the three aspects of search engine advertising, user-generated content (UGC) and platform business models, which led to the research content of this report. Based on the actual competition and cooperation model of Apple's IBook and Amazon Kindle Reader, this research conducts a game analysis on the cooperation decision-making of two platforms that have a competitive relationship between hardware and content product sales by constructing one-dimensional and two-dimensional Hotelling models. Study the name of the table. When the value of the hardware products of the two parties differs greatly or the profit margin of the content products is large, the two platforms will adopt a cooperation strategy. Moreover, in the case of cooperation, the production differentiation of the two parties has increased, that is, the two parties have formed a dominant situation in terms of hardware and software. In addition, the results of the study also provide management implications for consumer surplus and social welfare.
