Professor Priyadarshi R. Shukla, co-chair of the IPCC Working Group, visits

  At 3pm on June 24, 2019, Prof. Priyadarshi R. Shukla, co-chairman of the IPCC Working Group, University of Hamidabad, India, was invited to visit and gave an academic report entitled "Energy System Transformations for Global Warming of 1.5 °C".This report was hosted by Professor Liang Qiaomei The teachers and students of the Center participated in the report.

  Priyadarshi R. Shukla is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Hamidabad.He is currently co-chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group III (Disaster Reduction).He has been a professor at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad for more than 30 years.Professor Shukla is a member of several noted national and international committees in the energy, environment and development sectors and has led several global energy, environmental and development modeling teams.He also co-authored/edited 15 books and numerous publications in prestigious international journals.Professor Shukla is a member of the editorial board of several international journals in the fields of energy, environment, climate change and development policy and modeling. He is also a consultant to numerous national and international organizations. He holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University.

  In today's report, Professor Shukla introduced a “Special Report on the Impact of Global Warming on 1.5°C (SR15)” he prepared as the IPCC's response to the UNFCCC. The main framework of the report was analyzed: comparing global warming above pre-industrial levels by 1.5°C to 2°C, and finally discussing the mitigation challenges and opportunities in the context of preparing IPCC WGIII AR6. After the report, Professor Priyadarshi R. Shukla took a group photo with everyone.
