Professor Jun Li of University of Michigan was invited to give a lecture

Jun Li, Associate professor of Technology and Operations at The Stephen M. Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, is honored to present "Crowdfunding the Front Lines: An Empirical Study of Teacher-driven School Improvement "academic report, the report adopted the form of Zoom conference live online. More than 50 people, including some leaders, teachers and postgraduates of school of Management and Economics, attended the lecture, which was presided over by Professor Li Guo, director of Department of Management Science and Logistics of School of Management and Economics.

In the report, Professor Jun Li firstly introduced the K-12 education system in the United States and its existing problems, thus leading to the research content of this report. Starting from the actual operation model of DonorsChoose, a crowdfunding platform for teachers in the United States, the study analyzed the effectiveness of teacher-driven education by combining the student test scores in Pennsylvania from 2012 to 2013 and 2017 to 2018. Research shows that investing in smaller, teacher-driven schools can lead to better outcomes, and that funding programs can help narrow the gap between schools. In addition, the results of the study also give the education department in the financial expenditure, teacher resource allocation and other aspects of management enlightenment.

The report aroused great interest of teachers and students. Professor Jun Li and the participating teachers and students had a heated discussion and exchange on this research and the technology-driven teaching mode. Everyone was deeply inspired and the report received a warm response and was highly praised by the majority of teachers and students!

Dr. Jun Li graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is currently an Associate professor of technology and operations at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He has a long track record in empirical operations management and business analysis, covering revenue management and pricing, healthcare management, supply chain risk, corporate social responsibility, and public sector operations. The study was published in Management Science, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management and Production and Operations Management. His research has been awarded the INFORMS Award for Revenue Management and Pricing Practice and the Management Science Best Paper Award, and has been reported by the Economist, The New York Times, CNN, Forbes and other NATIONAL Public radio and mainstream media. Professor Jun Li currently serves as a director of Management Science, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management. Associate Editor of international top journals in Operations Research and Production and Operations Management.
