[Professors face to face-Academic Enlightenment] The 6th issue of 2020 was successfully held

On November 19th, the theme lecture of the School of Management and Economics [Professor Face-to-face-Academic Enlightenment] was successfully held on the Liangxiang campus in the sixth period of 2020. Professor Meng Fanchen from the Department of International Trade and Finance of the School of Management and Economics published a theme report on "Enterprises' International Strategic Choice and Research". The students from the School of Economics and Management actively participated and listened carefully to this lecture.

Professor Fanchen Meng first led everyone to make a preliminary understanding of the status quo of globalization and described that globalization is a historical development process. The power of science and technology determines the speed. In the development of economic globalization, it is being pulled from the United States to China. With the in-depth discussion of the problem, everyone's interest was deeply attracted by the topic, and the lecture gradually became better. Subsequently, the professor talked about the topic of digital economy-a new driving force. He mentioned that the current e-commerce platform accounts for 40% and is popular among young people, which aroused the resonance of the students present. At the same time, the professor analyzed some of the current global integration promotion factors that cannot be ignored. The promotion factors include technology, culture, market demand, cost, free market, economic integration, and equality; and the constraints include culture and market. Differences, costs, state control, nationalism, wars, management short-sightedness, organizational traditions, and local preference have given students a deeper understanding of global integration.

Professor Meng also conducted a series of analyses on the status quo of the internationalization of Chinese enterprises. At the beginning of the reform, the added value was low and there were more state-owned enterprises. But now: the added value is higher, the number of high-end brands (domestic mobile phones) is increasing, the proportion of high-tech products is increasing, although there are few high-tech products, and the technology-oriented investment is strongly supported by the state.

In the second half of the lecture, Professor Meng Fanchen used an example of the internationalization model-Geely's internationalization path to cut into the topic, expounded on the issue of corporate internationalization expansion, and proposed the strategic choice of Chinese corporate internationalization first to enhance brand capabilities, and then to seek In overseas markets, expand the upstream and downstream industrial chain; or seek overseas resources, human resources, parts, raw materials, etc.; and then seek overseas technology, intellectual property rights, technical teams and management experience to avoid international trade barriers.

At the end of the lecture, Professor Meng shared with us many excellent experiences on how to conceive innovative ideas for research papers, summed up as finding inspiration from existing materials and finding ideas from changing environments. He also pointed out that the research direction of academia could be internationalized operation, enterprise internationalization, and small and medium-sized enterprises, which gave us a deeper understanding of the paper, and thanked Professor Meng for his wonderful explanation.
