【Mingli Lecture 2022, Issue 20】4-13 Professor Cui Chenyu from University of International Business and Economics gives a speech

On April 13, 2022, [Mingli Lecture 2022 No. 20] was honored to invite Assistant Professor Cui Chenyu from the School of International Business, University of International Business and Economics to give a presentation entitled "Abandon the Good and Use the Bad: A-Share Investors Ignore Deductions for Non-Performance Information" The Visionary Study” report. Affected by the epidemic, this report will be held online. More than 20 teachers and students, including teachers and graduate students from the School of Management and Economics, participated in the report. The host is Assistant Professor Cui Yujia, Department of Accounting, School of Management and Economics.

Assistant Professor Cui Chenyu compared the net profit after deduction with the reported net profit based on the my country Securities Regulatory Commission's mandatory requirement for A-share listed companies to disclose their net profit after deduction of non-recurring profit and loss (hereinafter referred to as net profit after non-recurring profit and loss). The study found that the net profit after non-deduction can better reflect the profitability of listed companies than the net profit in the statement. However, when investors use financial indicators, they show a significant irrational tendency to abandon the good and use the bad: they focus on the reported net profit rather than the higher-quality net profit after deduction.

After the report, Mr. Cui Chenyu discussed related academic issues with the participating teachers and students. The report received enthusiastic response and was well received by teachers and students.
