【 Mingli Lecture 2023, Issue 10】Professor Jeff Jia from the University of York, UK, invited to give an academic report

On the afternoon of March 23, 2023, Professor Jeff Jia from the University of York in the UK was invited to give a presentation titled "The impact of government COVID-19 measures on manufacturers' stock market evaluations: the role of labor intensity and operational slip" in Conference Room 317 of the main building.

Professor Jeff Jia explains his research content from three aspects: 1. the formation of the global supply chain pattern; 2. Supply chain crisis under the epidemic; 3. Supply chain management under the epidemic. Professor Jeff Jia mentioned that the competition in the 21st century is no longer between enterprises, but between supply chains. The supply chain crises under the epidemic mainly include: 1. supply side shocks; 2. Demand side impact; 3. Confidence shock. The epidemic will have a serious impact on the global supply chain system. When the epidemic is under control, that is, the occurrence of supply chain disruptions is point like, with a certain number of occurrences and a certain duration. Enterprises need to build stability, resilience, robustness, and other capabilities. Professor Jeff Jia gave a detailed explanation of supply chain management under the COVID-19 epidemic in combination with his paper, and the report was well received by the teachers and students attending the meeting.
