Professor Yan Jinyue from the Royal Swedish Institute of Technology and Melardalen University was invited to give an academic report

On the morning of November 20, 2020, Professor Yan Jinyue from the Royal Swedish Institute of Technology and Meladalen University was invited to give an online academic report entitled "Energy transitions towards carbon neutrality: mission (im)possible?" Host, the teachers and students of the center participated in this report.

Professor Yan Jinyue is an academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and a professor at the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and Meladalen University. He is mainly engaged in research on advanced energy systems, renewable energy, advanced power generation technologies, climate change mitigation technologies, and related environmental policies. Professor Yan has published more than 400 papers in top international journals such as Science, Nature Energy, Nature Climate Change and Nature Communications, with a total of more than 14,500 citations, an H index of 60, and more than ten patent authorizations. He is also an international academic journal Applied Chief Editor of Energy and Clean Energy Systems. Professor Yan also won important awards such as the Global Human Settlement Environment Green Technology Award supported by the United Nations Environment Development Agency and the Global SWFF Award Final Nomination Award.

In this report, Professor Yan first introduced the international background of China's carbon neutrality goal, and reviewed the investment intensity and energy transition path for achieving carbon neutrality goals under existing research. Later, Professor Yan pointed out that in order to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality in the future, the flexibility of the energy system has become increasingly important in achieving the dynamic balance of supply and demand. At present, the energy transition is facing many challenges and opportunities. For example, the temporal and spatial characteristics of energy demand and renewable resources in urban areas, the use of new intelligent intervention technologies to realize the transformation of consumers to producers, and the integration of renewable energy and energy storage technology化 etc. Finally, the report pointed out that the renewable energy industry has reached the critical cost of market competitiveness, and therefore called for the acceleration of the combination of distributed energy technology, energy storage technology, and the transition of consumers to the role of producers to better respond to energy. Transformation. After the lecture, everyone had exchanges and discussions with Professor Yan on the deployment of renewable energy and CCS technology under the goal of carbon neutrality, and the carbon emission reduction that the power sector should undertake, and took a group photo online.
