  Speaker profile:

  Tu Shandong received his Ph.D. degree in engineering from Nanjing Institute of Chemical Technology in 1988. He is a Distinguished Professor of the Yangtze River Scholars Program (2001) and a recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Fund (2002). He is currently a professor and president of the Association of Science and Technology of East China University of Science and Technology.

 

  Introduction:

  The lecture will introduce the fundamental elements that enabled the application of energy systems by a historical review of the use of steam energy which trigged the industrial revolution. The interaction between science and technology, technology and society and politics will be discussed. A case study on the commercialization of ECUST coal gasification technology will also be given. Strategies that may speed up energy technology transfer will be recommended.
