Abstract:

In this talk, I will discuss some foundational concepts and methodological considerations when using case study as a research strategy. I will also discuss the methodological and philosophical variations within case study design, and will use papers published in top management journals as examples to explain these different case study approaches to research.

Speaker profile:

Carol Hsu is a Distinguished Professor in the Management Science and Engineering Department at Tongji University, Shanghai, China.She received her Ph.D.in Information Systems from the London School of Economics and Political Science.Her research interests broadly center around the institutional influences and cultural practices on the use of information systems at the individual, organizational and interorganizational levels.Her work has been published in MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, and other outlets.She currently serves as Senior Editor at the Journal of Strategic Information Systems and Information Systems Journal, as an Associate Editor at Information & Management.She was the Organizing co-chair for PACIS 2010, the Program co-chair for PACIS 2020, and Doctoral Consortium co-chair for AMCIS 2020.
