Dai Yande, Deputy Director of Energy Research Institute, National Development and Reform Commission

  March 12, 2011, invited by Director Professor Wei Yiming, Dai Yande gave an academic report entitled "Energy demand growth in the second decade" in Energy and Environmental Policy Research Center. Dai Yande is Deputy Director of the Energy Research Institute, National Development and Reform Commission, adjunct professor of Beijing Institute of Technology, and member of Academic Committee of BIT Energy and Environmental Policy Research Center.

  Dai first reviewed the first decade of the 21st century, the situation of China's social and economic development. He then predicted the total energy demand in the second decade. In considering China's energy supply, environmental pollution and climate change, Dai concluded that total energy consumption should be controlled: in 2020, total energy consumption should be controlled at 45 trillion tons. He proposed three control measures.
