September 25, 2010, 10:00 AM, - SME held its 30th anniversary celebration at the Lecture Hall of the Main Teaching Building. A total of 500 people including more than 60 deans from 50 well-known colleges and universities at home and abroad: Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Chung Yuan Christian University, Taiwan, etc., and famous entrepreneurs, part-time faculty, alumni, BIT leaders, SME teachers and students, gathered together. Li Jin-Lin, Party Secretary of SME, chaired the ceremony.
Dean Wei Yi-Ming made welcome remarks. Professor Zhang Wei, Deputy Director of the National Natural Science Foundation of Management, gave a speech. Alumni Chen Chuan-shu, Deputy Director of China National Committee on Ageing, expressed thanks to the alma mater. Vice President Hu Weishan, Chung Yuan Christian University, Taiwan, sent best wishes as a brother institute. Professor Lang ZhiZheng, the State Counselor, recalled the school’s dramatic changes. Zhang QingXuan, from the first class of 10801, spoke and presented a calligraphy gift. Dean Wei Yi-Ming accepted the gift on behalf of the school.
Yang Bin, Vice President of BIT, thanked the old teachers’ dedication and reviewed the school’s of extraordinary development course. Professor Rogers from Georgia Institute of Technology, as the representative of foreign universities, expressed sincere congratulations and optimism in friendship and future cooperation between the two schools.
The ceremony also celebrated the establishment of Chang-Sun Graduate Scholarship, Shun-Jiang Teaching Award, and Alumni Scholarship Fund. The celebration reached a climax with Vice President Yang Bin and Dean Wei Yi-Ming jointly declaring the opening of SME new office building.
Thirtieth anniversary is a new starting point for SME. We believe that with the support of school leaders at all levels, help from the alumni and community friends, and efforts from the staff and students, SME will move towards a new and greater glory!
