November 12, 2013, in the afternoon, Professor Paolo Urio from the University of Geneva was invited by the School of Management and Economics to vist our school and made a presentation entitled "China, the West, and the Myth of New Public Management". Director Ma Ming, Department of International Trade and Finance, hosted the lecture.
Professor Paolo Urio described the nature of the new public management framework , economic, market and capitalism connotation and connections, and economic and social impacts of the new public management framework. Evaluation of a public policies, especially the pros and cons of an economic policy, is whether it will help improve people's living standards, is able to provide citizens with a better education, health care, employment and other support , balance economic efficiency and social equity, shrink the gap between rich and poor , and continually improve environmental quality.
