August 26, Professor Sethi Suresh Pal. , Royal Canadian Academician of Sciences, director of University of Texas at Dallas Intelligent Supply Network Center, was invited to visit the School of Management and Economics.
In the Morning, Dean Professor Wei Yiming cordially met with Professor Sethi at conference room 331 in the main building 331.
At 15:00, professor Sethi made a report entitled "Managing with incomplete inventory information" at conference room 241 in the main building. Professor Sethi first introduced several classical inventory model, explained why in reality there will be incomplete information, and illustrated the importance of research on inventory model under the incomplete information. On this basis, Professor Sethi put forward and compared the Traditional Model and Cash Register Model under asymmetric information and gave the corresponding optimization algorithms.

Sethi, professor of the University of Texas at Dallas , is now the Royal Canadian Academician of Sciences , Charles & Nancy Davidson Distinguished Professor of Operations Management , the Center for Intelligent Supply Networks). Professor Sethi has made an outstanding contribution in operations management, marketing, industrial engineering , optimal control and other fields. The most well-known are Sethi advertising model, DNSS Points and textbooks on optimal control, such as “Optimal Control Theory: Applications to Management Science and Economics”. Professor Sethi has published 264 papers on international mainstream journals , including 11 on Management Science, 17 on Operations Research, 15 on Production and Operations Management, 5 on Manufacturing & Service Operations Management.
