Associate Researcher Zhao Xiaotong wins the Best Conference Paper Award at the 10th International Conference on Engineering, Project, and Production Management

Our researcher Zhao Xiaotong and the University of Singapore, Professor David Chua and lecturer Dr. Justin Ker-Wei Yeoh's research results "Extracting Construction Knowledge from Project Schedules using Natural Language Processing" recently published in 10th International Conference on Engineering, Project, and Production Management ( EPPM 2019). Zhao Xiaotong, special associate researcher, made the academic report at the meeting as the first author and correspondent author. The article was rated as “EPPM2019 Best Conference Paper” by the conference organizers and reviewers.

The research is aimed at the current project schedule planning time, the low efficiency and low accuracy of the progress check method, the innovative application of natural language processing and the network ontology knowledge structure, and the establishment of a set of automatic extraction of construction tasks and methods from the project schedule. The system is designed to automatically check the integrity and accuracy of the project schedule planning. The network-based engineering progress knowledge ontology structure developed by the system can represent the attributes and hierarchical structure of tasks in the construction progress, and can serve the knowledge sharing and expansion in the field of project schedule management.Computational experiments show that compared with the traditional engineering progress detection method, the system developed in this paper can significantly improve the accuracy and efficiency of progress detection.
