“Research on the Integrated Assessment Model of Economic Impacts of Climate Change” led by Professor Wei Yiming wins the commendation of the outstanding team of national key R&D projects

  On May 30, 2019, the High Technology Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology held a working conference on the key special projects of the national key R&D plan in Beijing, and commended the “Excellent Team for Project Implementation”.The National Key R&D Program led by Prof. Wei Yiming of the Beijing Institute of Technology's Energy and Environmental Policy Research Center - Global Climate Change and Response Key Tasks "Climate Change Economic Impact Integrated Assessment Model Research" Project (Project No.: 2016yfa0602600) won the 2018 Interim Inspection "Project Executive excellence team" recognition.The High-Tech Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology has selected 48 projects from the 345 projects established since 2016. According to the results of the mid-term review, 48 projects were selected for this honor.

 

  The National Key R&D Program “Research on the Integrated Assessment Model of Economic Impacts of Climate Change” is led by Beijing Institute of Technology, and is jointly undertaken by the National Information Center, the National Climate Center, the Shanghai Institute of Advanced Studies of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, and Peking University.The project focused on the major strategic needs of the country in the field of global climate governance, by fully exploiting the advantages of interdisciplinary cross-cutting,and investing in multiple research teams and talents, developed a comprehensive climate change assessment model with China's independent intellectual property rights (the China's Climate Change Integrated Assessment) Model, C3IAM), improved global and regional economic system models, developed multi-circle Earth system models, and established a comprehensive database for climate change assessment and analysis. The project has made significant progresses , exceeding the project requirements in quality and quantity and obtaining a number of innovative breakthroughs.
