The SME research result selected the most influential 100 international academic papers in China in 2017

Recently, the China Institute of Science and Technology Information released the overall situation of China's scientific papers and related statistical reports. Professor Wei Yiming from the School of Management and Economics of Beijing Institute of Technology published the paper "Socioeconomic impact assessment of China's CO2 emissions peak prior to 2030" in the Journal of Cleaner Production, and was selected as one of the 100 most influential international academic papers in China in 2017. The only paper selected in Beijing Institute of Technology. The paper was published in 2017 and has been cited 77 times (Web of Science) and has been selected for ESI hot papers and ESI high cited papers.

The selected paper developed an economic climate coupling model for assessing the trade-off between carbon emission reduction and economic growth, and assessed the socio-economic impacts of China's carbon emissions ahead of peak. The results show that if China's carbon emissions peak in 2026, it will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 22 billion tons during 2015-2030. At the same time, reaching the peak in advance will have an impact on China's GDP, and will reduce its GDP by 16% in 20 years. In 2015-2030, although China's GDP is expected to grow by more than 110%, energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions will only increase by 24% and 22%, respectively; energy intensity and carbon intensity will fall by 43% and 45%, respectively. This will be important for the global response to climate change, energy consumption transformation and low carbon development.
