At 2 pm on November 21, 2018, the “Teachers’ Speech” (No. 1) • Young Teacher Tells the Stories of Struggle” was successfully held in the Administration Building 230. Associate Professor Zhang Yuli and more than 20 outstanding undergraduates from the College participated in the exchange. The event was led by Zhang Yuli, with the theme of “Learning, Exploring and Innovating – Communicating with the Students of the School of Economics and Management”, focusing on personal experience, university life and study, and academic research.
Zhang Yuli first asked the students to complete a questionnaire about the study and life situation. According to the questionnaire data, he analyzed and explained the students' learning life, and shared his learning life sentiment and harvest with the students. Zhang Yu used Ma Yun, Ma Huateng, Liu Qiangdong and other people's speeches and a set of comics to vividly explain the relationship between interests, specialties and abilities, and demonstrated the importance of “targeting to reach the end”.
Zhang Yuli used "Watson playing Jeopardy" and "eHarmony" as examples to analyze the scientific data analysis, and described the importance of modern professional research for mining and analyzing data. He takes the Poisson distribution as an example, which shows that the abstract theorem is obtained from the statistics of reality. The application of theory to practice is a key step for students to learn from learning.
In the end, Zhang Yu used the Peking University Olympics champion, Professor Song Jingsheng, to take the academic path and the Australian Computer Society member Zbigniew Michalewicz from the interest of the academic path to tell us: academics do not have to be high intelligence, solid foundation and interest are the keys.
