On the morning of May 10, 2018, at the invitation of the Laboratory of Knowledge Management and Data Analysis, Professor Jan Youtie of the Georgia Institute of Technology China-US Technical Innovation Laboratory was invited to do a symposium entitled "Robotic Bureaucracy: An Assessment of Burden Shift in University Research Administration Through Email Analysis".
Professor Jan Youtie discussed whether the software systems used to intelligently manage university research funding, including automatic reporting and compliance mailings, are adding more burden on costs and time. Based on relevant emails received by funded researchers, including emails generated by software systems (robot emails), and emails sent by administrators, research data was tested to detect whether there was a shift in administrative burden.
After the report was over, the students and Professor Jan Youtie discussed the related research in depth, expanded the students’ research ideas and inspired research interests.
