October 24, 2011, invited by Professor Wei Yiming, Dean of the School of Management and Economics, Director of the Energy and Environmental Policy Research Center, Dr. Clare Lehane, Elsevier Press, visit the Center and made a presentation entitled "A guide to publishing your research: writing, reviewing and ethical issues in journal publishing" in the 2nd floor lecture hall of the main building. Dr. Lehane also distributed a number of brochures of paper submission skills and tips. Dean Professor Wei Yiming hosted the meeting. Faculty and students actively took part in the event.
Dr. Lehane showed Elsevier online submission process, including the paper structure, format and other details; introduced the reviewers and editors reviewing standards and procedures, and described specifically the manuscript rejection mechanism. In addition, Dr. Lehane, using descriptive statistics, showed the number of publications in core journals and trends with simple diagrams. He encouraged Chinese scholars and students to submit manuscripts to publish their painstaking research results in the world-renowned academic platform, and demonstrate their values.
At the end of the report, Dr. Lehane Ph.D. answered questions on how to polish the language to be more in line with native English standards, how to improve the paper acceptation rate, and how to wisely respond to the reviewers’ critics.
