【Mingli Lecture 2022, Issue 2】1-6 Professor Ye Zhisheng from National University of Singapore was invited to give a speech

On January 6, 2022, [Mingli Lecture Hall 2022 Issue 2] was honored to invite Associate Professor Ye Zhisheng from the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management, National University of Singapore, to give a presentation entitled "Design of Customized Two-Dimensional Extended Warranties Considering Use Rate and Heterogeneity". academic report. Professor Zhao Xian from the School of Management and Economics of Beijing Institute of Technology introduced Mr. Ye Zhisheng and presided over the report.

Mr. Ye Zhisheng first introduced the relevant two-dimensional extended warranty strategy through the background of automobiles. Existing 2D extended warranties are generally sold to all customers with a fixed coverage area and the same price. However, since different customers have different usage rates and product failure histories, customers are heterogeneous, which will significantly impact extended warranty costs. Mr. Ye Zhisheng introduced a personalized extended warranty strategy that considers customer usage rate, and built a warranty cost model under this strategy to calculate the manufacturer's expected maintenance cost and profit, so as to determine the optimal price of customized extended warranty. On the basis of this model, Mr. Ye Zhisheng further introduced a warranty strategy that comprehensively utilizes customer usage rate and product failure history information. Finally, Mr. Ye Zhisheng showed the numerical experiment results of the model to compare and analyze the two warranty strategies shown in the report and the existing fixed area warranty strategies. The results show that the customized warranty strategy is superior to the existing warranty strategy in terms of fairness, flexibility and profitability.

Mr. Ye Zhisheng's report fully aroused the interest and enthusiasm of the teachers and students at the meeting. After the report, the teachers and students actively communicated and interacted with Mr. Ye Zhisheng, and Mr. Ye Zhisheng also gave detailed answers to the corresponding questions. The report received enthusiastic response and received unanimous praise from teachers and students.
