【Mingli Lecture Issue 47, 2023】Professor Liu Jia was invited to give an academic report

In the afternoon of June 9, 2023, Professor Liu Jia of the University of Portsmouth was invited to give an academic report entitled "Common Problems and Countermeasures in Writing English Scientific Research Papers". The report was hosted by Professor Hao Yu of the Department of Applied Economics of our school, and was conducted online. More than 350 teachers and students both inside and outside the school participated in the report online.

Professor Liu Jia conducted a detailed analysis of the preparation work for writing English scientific research papers, including abstracts, introductions, theoretical reviews, model building, results explanation, and conclusions. He also provided a detailed analysis from the perspectives of researchers and reviewers, deeply introducing the potential information gap between researchers and editors; In addition, Professor Liu Jia also shared the feedback results of his own submission as a case study, providing in-depth insights into practical aspects such as submission techniques, key feedback points for communication with editors, and paper revision; Finally, Professor Liu Jia answered many questions from teachers and students in the English writing section online and confidently provided answers for the attending teachers and students. The originally scheduled one hour sharing meeting actually lasted for more than two hours, bringing a wonderful report to everyone.

Introduction to the speaker:

Liu Jia, Professor of Finance, Business School, University of Portsmouth, UK. She received her doctorate from the University of Birmingham, UK, and worked at the University of Leeds and the University of Sofield. Her research interests are extensive, including corporate finance, behavioral finance, financial markets, financial technology, and more. She has published multiple academic papers in major financial journals such as Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Business Ethics, British Journal of Management, Journal of lnternational Financial Markets, Institutional and Money, and International Review of Financial Analysis, as well as monographs on corporate governance, sustainability, and decision-making. He has won the "Best Paper Award" from European Management Journal (EU) and British School of Management (UK), and the "Best Paper Award" from Southwestern Financial Association (USA). Her research has been interviewed and published by multiple media outlets, including the famous' The Conversation '. She is currently the executive and chair of the British Accounting and Finance Association and the British School of Management, and the co op bank project consultant of the British government. At the same time, she also serves as the editor in chief of lnternational Journal of Finance and Economics (ABS 3), British Journal of Management (ABS 4), International Review of Financial Analysis (ABS 3), British Ac counting Review (ABS 3), Deputy editor in chief of Journal of Applied Accounting Research (ABS 2), and editorial board member of Corporate Governance: An International Review (ABS 3).
