May 5, 2016, Associate Professor Lu Fangwen, Renmin University of China School of Economics, was invited to visit our school and gave a report entitled "Learning to Manage and Managing to Learn: The Effects of Student Leadership Service". Associate Professor Zhang Lingxiang from the Department of Applied Economics hosted the lecture. A number of graduate and doctoral students participated in the report.
The eport started from the application of "field experiments" in the Economics. Dr. Lu subsequently introduced the design and implementation of a randomized trial on Chinese middle school students as the class cadre during her Ph.D. study . The experimental data analysis showed whether being a class leader have a significant impact on cultivating students' academic performance, social skills and leadership. The paper is to be published in the leading journal “Management Science”.
