2010 International Conference on Risk and Reliability Management Held

  October 23, 2010, Beijing Institute of Technology held the 2010 International Conference on Risk and Reliability Management. The conference was co-organized by the BIT School of Management and Economics and George Washington University Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The event was also organized in collaboration with Beijing Institute of System Engineering and China Operations Research Society Reliability Branch. The National Natural Science Foundation sponsored this conference. General Assembly President, SME Party Secretary Li Jin-Lin chaired the opening ceremony. BIT Deputy party secretary Hou GuangMing, SME Dean Wei Yi-Ming, and Assembly President, Professor Thomas A. Mazzuchi of George Washington University delivered speeches.

 

  More than 60 experts from 30 domestic and international universities and research institutions of United States, Italy, Spain, Britain and other countries as well as more than 50 BIT students and teachers attended the conference. The meeting involved academic areas including financial risk management, enterprise risk management, reliability, maintainability, crisis and emergency management, disaster management and security management. The conference also attracted management and researchers from some companies and financial institutions to participate.

  Professor Demartini, University of Turin, Italy, presided over the morning lectures. Professor Thomas A. Mazzuchi, George Washington University, Professor Isabel Martínez Torre-Encisot, Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain, Professor Alan G. Hawkes, University of Wales Swansea, and Professor Cui LiRong, Beijing Institute of Technology, gave a report on the latest academic achievements on risk management and reliability.

  The conference also established two sub-forums on risk management and reliability management. Participating experts and scholars had an intensive exchange and discussion on the forefront academic problems of their fields.
  During the meeting, SME professors had in-depth discussion on further cooperation with the University of Turin, Italy and the Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain.
  The convening of the General Assembly and the Academic Forum greatly promoted cooperation and academic exchanges between our school teachers and students and their counterparts in well-known domestic and international universities.
