USTC Prof. Paid Visit to and Gave Lecture at BIT

At the invitation of SME rector Wei Yiming, retired Professor Guo Chuanjie of the University of Science and Technology of China came to BIT to visit and lecture.

In his speech entitled “A Cultural Ecology for Creations and Innovations”, which was delivered in the afternoon of Jan. 11, Prof. Guo stressed the importance of a healthy cultural environment to sound creations and energetic innovations, and suggested ways to build such environment, especially in universities and colleges, based on his rich administrational experiences in educational institutions. He condensed his ideas into three “for’s” i.e., for originality, for genuineness, for certainty; and three “ing’s”, activating, cohering and sieving. His talk won admiration and appreciation from among the audience.

For many years, the lecturer also held high positions in CAS. Recently he has just been appointed a part time faculty member of SME. His in-depth understanding on strategic policies, affluent experiences in S&T management and versatile writings in multiple academic fields have made his opinions highly expected and respected.
