May 31, 2013, in the morning, the University of Nebraska tenured professor Wang Zhenyuan was invited by the Department of Management Science and Logistics to visit our school and made a report entitled "Ranks and total orders on the set of all fuzzy numbers. Professor Zhang Qiang, Head of the Department of Management Science and Logistics hosted the lecture.
Decision-making in fuzzy environment and data mining need to deal with all kinds of fuzzy numbers. This requires an appropriate means to compare the size of fuzzy numbers, that is, the need to establish and discuss the ranks of fuzzy numbers, and even the total orders (if possible). So far, the literature has been conferred 30 different ways of ranking. Although selection depends on a given practical problem, a standard to measure the quality of the ranking methods is required. Of course, it was even better if total orders on the set of all fuzzy numbers are given. In fact, based on the decomposition theorem 4, Professor Zhang has created a way to define the total order approach.
