Ⅰ.About the School

University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison), founded in 1848, is located in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. It is one of the world's top public research universities, the USNEWS in 2015-16 ranked the university 26th and the 2015-16 Times Higher Education ranked the university 50th in the world.The school is the flagship institution of the University of Wisconsin system and one of the founding members of the Association of American Universities, the leading academic union of North America. It is also one of the founding members of the top ten well-known alliances in the United States. UW-Madison, an Ivy public university, together with the University of California at Berkeley, the University of California at Los Angeles, and the University of Michigan, represent the highest level of public universities in the United States.

 

Ⅱ.About the Program

In May 2018, the School of Management and Economics signed an agreement with the University of Wisconsin -Madison to cooperate in the management of AAE/VISP applied economics graduate program (3+1+x). According to the agreement, Students who participate in the program study at Beijing Institute of Technology in the first three years, and study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fourth year. The language of instruction is English. Students who complete requirements of the UW-Madison can receive corresponding credits from our school. Students will receive a Bachelor's degree from Beijing Institute of Technology. During the year of study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the average score for all economics, statistics, and mathematics courses was at least 3.0(B), not less than 2.0(C) can continue to apply for a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin, and can transfer up to 15 credits from the exchange course of the year to be counted to the graduate degree. With the summer semester after graduation, qualified students can earn a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin in the shortest fifteen months.

 

Ⅲ. Admission Requirements

1. Students are in the third year or above in the School of Management and Economics of Beijing Institute of Technology;

2. Number of students enrolled: 20 people/year

3. Excellent academic performance during school, with an average score of 70 or above; all math, statistics, and economics courses have an average score of 75 or higher (equivalent to "B" or 3.0 or higher in the US 4-point scale);

4. English level: TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.5;

5. The School of Management makes recommendation;

6. Pass the interview of the University of Wisconsin.

 

Ⅳ.Program duration and cost

Program duration: minimum 15 months

Study fee:

VISP Visiting Year Tuition: $38k (undergraduate) or $25k (graduate)

Post-VISP Graduate Tuition: $24k (MSPO Master) or $17k (MS REDA Master)

Living expenses: $15k/year

 

Ⅴ. Application methods and time schedule

1. Applicants register in the undergraduate international exchange project management system;

2. Applicants should generate an “Approval Form for Undergraduate Students to Study Abroad in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan” in the management system. The professional responsibility professor and the head of the School shall sign the form, and a PDF version be uploaded in the system;

3. Upload a PDF version of the materials required in the system, including undergraduate school certificate, English or French language proficiency test materials, college transcripts, English resume, and passport home page;

4. Application time: From the beginning of each year to the end of March
